Running wasn't among Filippo's priorities but, race after race, parkrun after parkrun, he grew an interest and wanted to see how much he could improve over the half marathon distance. He went as far as running a marathon in Valencia before, with a respectable 3:36 finishing time.
Consistency was key. Shaving a substantial amount of time from a HM personal best takes commitment, perseverance and a meaningful plan to follow.
Filippo trusted the process and missed his training only once in 8 weeks.
Being a Formula 1 fan, he set sight on a half marathon taking place on the Goodwood motor circuit in the UK.
Come race day, he did not disappoint. He managed to keep a steady pace throughout, managing to shave off 10 (ten) minutes from his previous personal best set almost 1 year before.
What's next? New York, of course!
